Dreaming of a trip to discover Andalusia is an amazing feeling that transports you at every moment to unknown places, makes your adrenaline pump at full speed and makes you feel as excited as when you were a child with a new toy.
When Carlos and Gabriela contacted me for this 5-day trip, they asked me to advise them on how to discover Andalusia, but they never imagined the final result.
DISCOVER ANDALUSIA IN A FEW DAYS
These daring tourists from faraway lands wanted to do only Traditional Tourism, and from the spainventure.com team we strived to show Andalusia in a totally different way, so we included a day of Trekking in the middle of their stay.
Our visitors -professional backpackers- have enjoyed the beauty that Andalusia has to offer from the moment they arrived at Malaga airport, with the excellent weather that welcomed them and the good humour of ordinary Andalusians.
Malaga Trip and Trekking Journey
We started in the Malaga Province, where our first stop was a day of trekking and a guided tour of “El Caminito del Rey”, a 7km trekking adventure accompanied by a guide explaining the details and curiosities necessary for them to be able to interpret each beautiful corner that was presented before their eyes, being able to observe a nature that captivates them, with a lot of green – in a very special and particular water year – listening to the narration of the stories of the historical workers of the Guadalhorce dam and their adventures in times past.
After this fantastic adventure experience and being able to discover Andalusia, we set off in the exclusive vehicle towards the city of Malaga to take a city tour on foot, visiting emblematic sites of the city, Muelle 1, Calle Larios, La Alcazaba and the unmissable Pimpi Tapas Bar to end a long but super exciting visit.
Granada and the Andalusian charm
The Granada Province offers wonders at every step, but a guided tour of the “Alhambra of Granada” is a must-see. Having to Eva – Official Guide – at our side explaining every detail, story and secret of this beautiful historical monument made the 3 1/2 hours of the visit go by very quickly, and the Generalife and the Nasrid Palaces remain etched in our memory, admiring a culture that amazes in every detail of this amazing monument; what to say about the Courtyard of the Lions, the beautiful gardens full of flowers, the symmetry in the construction of the Palaces, the water conduction, etc… so much beauty that overwhelmed our adventurers.
Granada City is not only about the Alhambra, go there and don’t just walk around it, walk down through the Alhambra forest, its little streets, the endless tea rooms, artisan workshops, the impressive Cathedral, the aroma of spices, and of course… Navas Street with all its bars with beer + tapas: A classic from Granada.
But that’s not all. The city tour we did from the city centre after the lunch time had the Mirador de San Nicolás as its final destination, but to get there we had to make the last physical and emotional effort going up some dreamy alleys that cross the beautiful Albaizin neighbourhood… we left all this beauty behind until we reached our goal to be able to enjoy some beautiful and amazing views of the Alhambra and all its splendour with the Sierra Nevada behind it, making this landscape even more splendid. Essential to beat the heat, without stopping to observe this magnificent monument, are the typical ice creams of Granada, and in our case we couldn’t miss the Hibiscus and Jasmine one…
Holidays in Fuengirola “La Costa del Sol”
The return trip by road was already harder, they were tired but super happy to discover Andalusia and another wonder of Spain. The next day Carlos and Gabriela -our protagonists and adventurers- take a break to visit the beaches of Fuengirola where they were staying at the Hotel Myramar and regain their strength for the last step of their adventure.
Córdoba and history at every step
We started this last stop in the capital of Cordoba, very early in the morning but eager to discover Andalusia, Carlos and Gabriela enjoying their road trip in their exclusive transport, an endless sea of neatly planted olive groves – you can see where the plantations begin but not where they end – and having the added value of being able to “smell” the magnificent aroma of the olives that are processed in the factories adjacent to the highway… olfactory sensations will be saved in their most glorious memories…
A specialized guide is in charge of revealing to us every secret, and with a great sense of humor, every step of the visit that he makes us through the Cordoba Old Town, with peculiar stories and curiosities that make the visit of almost 2 hours seem short. We take a Cordoban tapas -how could we forget their first eggplants with Honey Cane- and we set off for the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba to enjoy it and be impressed by so much architectural and historical beauty.
Visiting the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba has left our Adventurers in awe, speechless to describe the beauty that surrounds them, the countless number of columns, altars, architecture, scriptures, chapels: An absolutely impressive mix that does not leave you indifferent, it fills you with every step.
This stage of Carlos and Gabriela’s journey is coming to an end, now the next one begins, but discovering Andalusia the way they did will surely leave a mark on their memories, and I have no doubt that they will repeat it.
