CANYONING AND HORSE RIDING AT RIO JOROX
An ideal activity for the whole family, canyoning is one of the most thrilling adventures in Spain. Enjoy unforgettable moments in complete contact with nature while abseiling for all levels and ages. The adrenaline and excitement levels depend on the water level of the river Jorox and the time of year, making rock climbing an adventurous experience.
Taking a few jumps into the smaller river pools, abseiling, and then the prize you come to the famous waterfall, the “POZA de la CALDERA” at the end. This spectacular waterfall, a highlight of canyoning adventures in Spain, drops approximately 25 meters.
At the end of this fascinating exercise on the river Jorox, we will enjoy an interesting session of horse riding.
Our itinerary starts by horse riding close to the creek that passes the Convent of local Nuns. Passing next through a forest of ancient oak trees, that were saved from felling because of the incomparable shade that they give. Immediately afterward, we will leave the creek to pass the farmhouse “CORTIJO ROSA del NOTARIO” and continue riding up to the pass, the high port of the convent, from where we will have privileged views of the mountain high peaks of Ronda. From this point, we will descend the creek of the “El Palancar,” whose waters appear and disappear as they crisscross our mountain track during the whole descent. After a small stop to take in views of the landscape, with time to take some photographs, then we will continue our way down, ending at “CORTIJO LA REJERTILLA.”
This itinerary will allow us to enjoy the local Andaluz culture riding between ancient olive groves and farms with salads, vegetables & cereals, being able to observe the classic Andalusian “White Villages” surrounded by beautiful gardens, promoting the interior Andalusian culture.
You will not stop remembering this exciting canyoning activity as part of your adventures in Spain, with a mixture of adrenaline and overcoming your limits; allowing yourself the challenge.
